Tech Orbiter aims to be a privacy-friendly site. This privacy and cookie policy outlines how your privacy is maintained and your data is protected.

1. Privacy-Friendly Features

1.1 External Connections

Tech Orbiter does not connect to external domains or third-party services by default.

1.2 Default Cookies

Tech Orbiter does not place cookies in your browser for common actions like reading and sharing posts. Some exceptions are mentioned below. Cookies will not be set without your consent, except in certain cases where your request may be interpreted as spam or unauthorized.

1.3 Encryption

All connections to Tech Orbiter are encrypted during transit. Backups are always encrypted. Passwords are always stored hashed and cannot be retrieved by anyone except the account owner.

2. Information Collection

Tech Orbiter does not use a web analytics service. Some anonymous analytics is logged by Cloudflare, which is a performance and security services provider for Tech Orbiter. Tech Orbiter does not collect your IP address from Cloudflare.

2.1 Comments

When you leave a comment on Tech Orbiter, you can optionally provide a name, email address, and website address, which will be saved in the database. Your name and email address are used to identify you as the author of a comment. Your email address is never shared or publicly displayed.

2.2 User Accounts

If you create an account on Tech Orbiter, your name, email address, and an encrypted hash of your password are saved to the database. Your name and email address are used for account management. Tech Orbiter cannot view or retrieve your password. If you forget your account’s password, enter your email address in the account recovery form and follow instructions over email to change your password.

2.3.1 Cloudflare Cookies

Cloudflare is the performance and security provider for Tech Orbiter. Cloudflare analyzes incoming requests and places cookies in your browser when you post a comment, try to sign in, or try to access protected site pages. Cloudflare recommends using modern web browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, which support JavaScript and HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 connections. 2.3.2 Comment Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website for convenience. This will place a cookie in your browser with a validity of one year, or until you delete browser data.

2.3.3 Login Cookies

A temporary cookie is set when you open the sign in page to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded with the browser session. An authentication cookie is saved in your browser for up to 14 days after you successfully sign in to the site.

These cookies are only applicable for registered users of the site, not for site visitors and readers. Registrations to the site are currently closed.
